WELCOME TO GLOBAL MARINE INVESTIGATORS
NETWORKING ACROSS BOUNDARIES AGAINST MARINE FRAUD
OUR SPONSORS

To develop and provide high levels of training to law enforcement, insurance investigators and other marine professionals. To work and train together with both public and private sectors to combat marine theft, arson, fraud and other criminal activities in the marine environment.
Dear Members and Friends of GMI,
Further to our circulation in July 2022 (see below), here are the latest news:
Due to various reasons, including accommodation issues in October, we had to postpone the conference to March 2023 – however, we have extended the activity by one day – the “in-depth training” day.
Please block Monday, March 13, to Friday, March 17, 2023. Our first-ever Spring Conference!
We will circulate the program very soon, and the conference costs will be similar to our past conferences. Room prices will be around 70 EUR for single occupancy and about 90 EUR for a double room.
Budva can be reached through the airports of Podgorica and Tivat, and also from Dubrovnik airport.
Next to our members
Marine Claims Services, Germany,
The Maritime Crime Group, Netherlands, and,
German Competence Centre for Marine Criminality;
following law enforcement agencies and international organisations continue to be interested in participation and support:
National Coordination Centre of the Montenegro Border Police
ICITAP, the US Government’s International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program – Dear Brian Ripley (most of you know him) is trying to arrange a panel so we can meet the Delaware Register Officers and other colleagues from the USA.
EMPACT, the European Multidisciplinary Platform Against Criminal Threats.
We anticipate having with us members and supporters, among others, from Albania, Belgium, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Croatia, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italia (Guardia di Finanza), Kosovo, North Macedonia, Serbia, Sweden, the UK (Border Police), the USA, and from the organisations FRONTEX, EUROPOL, INTERPOL, and more.
The conference highlight should be a sea trip from Budva to Bar by high-speed law enforcement vessels – with an appended “in-depth session” for vessel identification – using devices to read out inboard and outboard engines. In addition, a visit to the new training centre for the Montenegro Coast Guard is planned.
Above all: We will arrange enough time for networking and make flexible breaks after every presentation.
So, please graciously forgive our shaky progress, save the dates, and we will revert now with the tentative program.
Last but certainly not least: Zoran, Matthias “Süd”: We greatly appreciated help from Zoran Lasica, Head of the National Coordination Centre of the Montenegro Border Police, as well as Matthias Mink, Head of the German Competence Centre for Marine Criminality.
We are looking forward to seeing you all in Montenegro!
Take care, stay healthy – and block your calendar – now!
Kind Regards
Your SteerCo
